I've just returned to the UK, and the start of four back-to-back projects is looming.
A week on Monday, I'm returning to the Royal Academy of Music to direct their Vocal Faculty opera scenes, followed by three operas with one common theme - strong women!
- Intermezzo at Garsington Opera opening 6 June - looking forward to my first collaboration with Jac van Steen in the pit. Look out for the exciting designs by Giles Cadle.
- La Traviata at the Stand'ete in Moutier in Switzerland (after my Giulio Cesare there a couple of years ago) opening 21 June
- Agrippina in Iford opening 25 July - returning to the cloister after a gap year, and reunited with Kimm Kovac for the designs, and Alinka Kozari (my Violetta there two years ago) as Agrippina.
Busy but exhilarating few months, and returning to Australia straight after to revive Faust for the State Opera of South Australia in Adelaide!
In the meantime, more reviews from the Faust at Opera Australia in Sydney:
